What is PopRef!?  PopRef! is a websited devoted to the teaching of information literacy skills for students.  Here you'll find some of the tips and tricks for finding and discerning quality resources on the Web and in print.

Who is PopRef! for?
Well, the site was origianlly conceived as a tool to help in the delivering of Information Literacy (the ability to conduct effective research) for students of Argosy University Twin Cities.  Since this content is available on the Web, it is free and open to anyone.

So what does PopRef! mean?
Well, PopRef! has many meanings actually.  The Ref in PopRef! comes from my background as a librarian and my desire to find reference materials and make them available for student use.
The Pop in PopRef! has a couple of meanings.  First, it represents those "popular" items that I think would be helpful to students.  Second, it is a reference to "pop" culture, which I know may sound corny, but I'm a child of the 80's and can't help myself.  Third, is represents the instantanious nature by which I can upload this information to the Internet.  Yes, there is a lot of time spent finding out if the information is useful, pertinent, and reliable, but getting it up and on the Web is as simple as cut and paste.
